APPLICATIONS OF RESEARCH METHODS IN MANAGEMENT FINANCIAL DERIVATIVES & SECURITY ANALYSIS AND PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT MIDDLEWARE TECHNOLOGIES & SOFTWARE TESTING
16TH AND 17TH JULY 2010

We conducted a Faculty Development Programme on 16th and 17th July on the topics “Applications of Research Methods in Management, Financial derivatives & security analysis and portfolio management for Management Faculties and on Middleware Technologies and Software testing for IT Faculty Members.”

Faculty members from various institutions participated in the programme. The programme focused on enriching the knowledge of faculty members so that they could train and develop their students to be innovative managers.

The first day of workshop for the management Faculties was on Financial Derivatives and Security analysis and Portfolio management. One of the experts Mr.A.Selvam an Associate Professor from Sri Ramachandra College of Management, discussed as to how the exchange of derivative takes place in the derivative market. He primarily focused on futures and options. He also explained the finer points of derivative analysis and profit making. All the staff were given hands on experience about online trading. In addition, the other resource person of the day, Dr.Govindaraj an Associate Director of Price Water House Coopers Chennai, emphasized the practical concepts and applications to the security market. He divided the faculty members into different teams and assigned a task to carry out, in which the participants become accustomed in taking investment decision related to financial assets.

The Second day of the workshop was on Research Methodology. It is a structured framework of conducting Management Research in order to address various issues and to solve problems in a scientific way. Thus, Applications of Research Methods in management helps to solve management problems, business complexity in Indian scenario. The session was very practical and interactive.

Dr.R.Palaniswamy the resource person has over 33 years of teaching experience. He is an expert quantitative techniques and research methodology. He has presented papers in the national and international conferences. He also conducts SPSS workshop(s) for Research Scholars, Faculties and industrial persons. He shared most of his views about research with the participants and gave explanations on how to use SPSS Package for Research Purposes. The Session was very informative and interesting too.

We also had Faculty Development Programme focused on IT, which focused on enriching the knowledge of faculty from various Educational Institutions and IT Industries in the subject of Middleware Technologies, and software testing, which is one of the core subjects under Anna University of Technology Coimbatore.The experts were Ms.Revathi Priya and Mr. Balasubramanian.

The programme was aimed to enable them to improve the teaching and Technical Skills, which would assist to develop their students

The training methodology in general included case study, group discussions, real time Industrial examples and covered various programs like EJB,COM and CORBA.

The Participants were provided with the CDs and handouts of the sessions that were discussed by the resource persons. Cdr K Velu the Chairman presided over the Valediction and appreciated the participants for a very interactive session and their valuable feed back. Image Gallery:
