All the Corporate houses close their accounts on 31 March the last day of the financial year. They do so primarily to audit their performance, review the business situation, take a stock of the inventory and share the profit with the stake holders. The ultimate aim is to check that the bottom line of the balance sheet radiates positive signal. In short it is party time. In a befiting manner, to share their experiences, joy and describe their progress since the inception of the college, the staff and the students all gathered to celebrate the first annual and sports day.

The college was full of outdoor activities. Lec Syed Haroon and Lec Manimaran. were the architects of the sports events , went about in a precise manner and organized all the events like short put, tennikoit, carom, TT, athletics, Cricket and Marathon. Suresh Kalmadi must take a cue from them for the commonwealth games scheduled in October 2010.

Many of the students who were considered chinks in the armour turned out to be the star performers. Mr.Murali Sundar of I MCA and Mr.Prabakaran of I MBA were unofficially declared as Carl Lewis of the College as they walked away with the maximum number of individual prizes.

Ms. Deepa of I MBA was crowned as the PT Usha of the College for her sterling performance in the field and track events. SVIITM were the winners in the team events. They made a clean sweep in the both the events in cricket and basketball.

Mr.MohanShankar, managing Partner Shankar Group of Companies was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Cdr.K.Velu, The Chairman and Mrs. Megala Velu, The secretary graced the occasion by their presence.

The ceremony began with the welcome address by Prof.D.Visagamoorthy, with poetical quotes from Thirkural that was applauded by all.Dr.A.Ashraf Ali, the CEO cum Principal gave on overview of the growth of the college from the inception till date. Mrs. N.Subha, the senior most serving staff gave an account of all the activities from the inaugural function till date. She dug into the archives , retrieved the old photographs and synchronized her first annual report with them which added nostalgic memories to the entire Venkateswara family. Mr. Prabhu Sankar, the HOD of SVIITM gave a complete report of the glorious past & present in his report.

The Chairman was highly emotional and charged up. He said that he could not believe that three years have passed and could not digest that the campus would be without students like Karthikeyan,Nagaraj, Jeyashree and a few others.

He narrated the events that lead him to start a college on his own. The main reason being, the shortcomings he observed in other educational system and the knowledge he acquired from his visit to foreign countries, Germany and Singapore in particular. His desire was to eliminate the shortcomings, incorporate the gains and impart world class education to the students.

Mr.Mohan Sankar in his address said emphatically that he had visited many institutions, but was amazed at the quantum of activities and inputs being provided to the students. He went on to say that it is not the brick or mortar that speaks of an institute, but the students. He advised them think beyond the class rooms and stressed on the point that it is the placement which is the litmus test of any institute.

The meritorious students were awarded certificates and the star performers were felicitated. The curtains were drawn with the cultural programme and the fashion parade. A sumptuous dinner by the Management was another memorable event of the first annual and sports day.
